The story revolves around a top-secret resort for retired U.S. intelligence officers. A group of criminals led by Balzary breach the compound, hellbent on revenge on Robert, forcing the retired officer and his son to save the day.
Fortress (2021) is a formulaic, low-budget action thriller that offers little to distinguish itself from countless similar direct-to-video entries. The plot — a breach of a secret compound with a father-son team taking on the villains — is entirely by-the-numbers, with thin characterization and predictable beats. Acting from Bruce Willis (in one of his many late-career phoned-in performances) and the supporting cast is serviceable at best. Cinematography is competent but uninspired, typical of low-budget productions. There's minimal novelty in concept or execution, recycling familiar genre tropes without a distinctive voice. The ending resolves predictably with no surprises. Across the board, this is a below-average but not catastrophically bad genre entry.
