The Quartile Take

Fastest is a competent but fairly conventional sports documentary that follows the expected arc of MotoGP drama — crashes, comebacks, rivalries, and glory. The cinematography is genuinely exceptional, with stunning high-speed footage capturing the visceral intensity of MotoGP racing in ways rarely seen on film, which is the documentary's clear standout. Ewan McGregor's narration is serviceable but unremarkable. The structure follows a well-worn sports doc formula, offering little that distinguishes it beyond its subject matter and visual flair. The ending, while emotionally satisfying for fans of the sport, is predictable in its resolution. Novelty is limited — the film is a polished entry in a crowded genre of elite-sport documentaries without a truly distinctive voice or approach beyond access.
