Now a detective-for-hire like her infamous brother, Enola Holmes takes on her first official case to find a missing girl, as the sparks of a dangerous conspiracy ignite a mystery that requires the help of friends — and Sherlock himself — to unravel.
Enola Holmes 2 is a competent, enjoyable sequel that delivers on the charm of its predecessor but doesn't significantly expand on it. The mystery plot is reasonably engaging, weaving in real historical events (the Matchgirls' Strike), though the conspiracy elements feel somewhat formulaic for the genre. The acting remains a highlight with Millie Bobby Brown bringing energy and charisma, supported by a solid ensemble, but performances don't reach exceptional heights. Cinematography is pleasant and period-appropriate without being visually distinctive. As a sequel that largely replicates the tone and formula of the first film, novelty is limited — it's entertaining but derivative of its own established style. The ending wraps things up satisfactorily with some fun character moments but no particular surprise or resonance.
