When Lois Lane is killed, an unhinged Superman decides to take control of the Earth. Determined to stop him, Batman creates a team of freedom-fighting heroes. But when superheroes go to war, can the world survive?
Injustice adapts the popular video game/comic storyline of a tyrannical Superman with solid narrative ambition, but the compressed runtime leaves character development thin and emotional beats undercooked. The voice acting is serviceable but lacks the gravitas the dark material demands, falling short of DC's better animated outings. Visually it's competent but unremarkable for DC animation, with generic action choreography and flat lighting. The premise of a fascist Superman is inherently compelling and gives it above-average distinctiveness within the superhero genre, though it follows the source material closely rather than adding new dimensions. The ending resolves the conflict in a rushed, unsatisfying manner that undercuts the moral weight the story was building toward.
