After Santa Claus (codename: Red One) is kidnapped, the North Pole's Head of Security must team up with the world's most infamous tracker in a globe-trotting, action-packed mission to save Christmas.
Red One is a loud, expensive holiday action-comedy that follows a thoroughly familiar save-Christmas formula. The plot is formulaic and episodic, hitting predictable beats with little surprise. Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans have decent chemistry and bring some charisma, elevating the material above its script, though neither is stretched. Visually the film is polished with competent blockbuster cinematography but nothing distinctive. Novelty is low — the 'buddy-cop meets Christmas mythology' concept has been done and this iteration adds little new. The ending is warm but predictable, wrapping up exactly as expected with no emotional risk taken.
