Dating coach Alex 'Hitch' Hitchens mentors a bumbling client, Albert, who hopes to win the heart of the glamorous Allegra Cole. While Albert makes progress, Hitch faces his own romantic setbacks when proven techniques fail to work on Sara Melas, a tabloid reporter digging for dirt on Allegra Cole's love life. When Sara discovers Hitch's connection to Albert – now Allegra's boyfriend – it threatens to destroy both relationships.
Hitch is a charming, well-performed romantic comedy anchored by Will Smith's charismatic lead performance and solid chemistry with Eva Mendes. The plot is serviceable but formulaic — a classic romcom structure with few surprises, relying on mistaken identity and manufactured conflict. The cinematography is competent but unremarkable, typical of mid-2000s studio fare with little visual ambition. Novelty is limited; the 'dating coach' premise offers a mild twist but the film largely follows genre conventions without a distinctive voice. The ending resolves predictably with minimal earned emotional payoff, wrapping up both storylines in a rushed and conventional fashion.
