When the family patriarch is murdered, seven women find themselves trapped together in his mansion to solve the mystery.
This Italian remake of a French comedy (8 femmes) offers a lively ensemble of women in a theatrical murder mystery setting, but its derivative nature (itself a remake) and formulaic whodunit structure keep novelty low. The plot mechanics are predictable and the ending underwhelms, while the cinematography is stagy and unremarkable. The ensemble cast brings some energy but the material constrains them. A passable holiday comedy-mystery that rarely rises above its genre conventions.
