Eddie, the 40-year-old confirmed bachelor finally says "I do" to the beautiful and sexy Lila. But during their honeymoon in Mexico, the woman of his dreams turns out to be a total nightmare, and the guy who could never pull the trigger realizes he’s jumped the gun.
The Farrelly Brothers' remake of the 1972 film is a fairly formulaic romantic comedy with crude humor substituting for wit. Ben Stiller delivers a serviceable performance and Malin Åkerman commits to her role, but the script leans heavily on gross-out gags and a familiar premise without adding much freshness. The cinematography is unremarkable vacation-destination fare, and the ending feels abrupt and unsatisfying. As a remake of an already-adapted novel, novelty is limited, and the plot's central premise—marrying the wrong person only to meet the 'right' one immediately—is executed without much ingenuity.
