Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

Six incredible teens out-maneuver and defeat evil everywhere as the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, but this time the Power Rangers may have met their match when they face off with Ivan Ooze, the most sinister monster the galaxy has ever seen.

The Quartile Take

A big-screen expansion of the beloved TV series that delivers colorful spectacle and nostalgia but little else. The plot is formulaic even by kids-movie standards — villain released, heroes lose powers, heroes regain powers, big final fight — with minimal stakes or surprises. Acting is campy and broad, consistent with the show but not elevated for the theatrical format. Cinematography is a genuine step up from the TV series, with bigger sets, better lighting, and some ambitious action choreography that earns a modest bump. Novelty is low; it's essentially an extended episode with a bigger budget, recycling the same story beats fans already knew. The ending resolves everything predictably and tidily with no lingering resonance.
