When marauding Romans capture - and catapult - their pal Getafix into lands unknown, the shrewd and cunning Asterix and his able sidekick Obelix spring into action! But their journey leads them to a strange and dangerous new world, where they must face a tribe of Indians, a stampeding herd of buffalo and a medicine man with designs on their magic potion!
Asterix Conquers America is a competent but unremarkable entry in the animated Asterix franchise. The plot transplants the Gauls to pre-Columbian America, which gives it a mildly fresh twist compared to typical Roman-era adventures, earning it modest novelty points. However, the story is formulaic and lightweight even by the series' standards, with thin character development and predictable beats. The animation is solid for early 1990s European production but not exceptional. Voice acting is serviceable without standing out. The ending resolves tidily but without any memorable payoff, consistent with a mid-tier family adventure.
