After a migrating duck family alights on their pond with thrilling tales of far-flung places, the Mallard family embarks on a family road trip, from New England, to New York City, to tropical Jamaica.
Migration is a charming but formulaic family animation following the well-trodden overprotective-parent-learns-to-let-go arc. The plot hits expected beats without much surprise, and the concept of anthropomorphized birds on a journey feels derivative of stronger Illumination and Pixar outings. Voice performances are solid and likable without being particularly distinctive. The animation is visually polished with some vibrant set pieces across New York and Jamaica, though not cinematographically groundbreaking. Novelty is limited — the film doesn't carve out a unique identity in the crowded family animation space. The ending resolves predictably but warmly, satisfying its target audience.
