Riggs and Murtaugh pursue a former officer who uses his knowledge of police procedure and policies to steal and sell confiscated guns and ammunition to local street gangs.
Lethal Weapon 3 is a competent but noticeably diminishing entry in the franchise. The plot rehashes familiar buddy-cop beats with a fairly routine villain and a guns-for-gangs scheme that lacks the tension of earlier installments. The chemistry between Gibson and Glover remains the film's strongest asset, and Rene Russo adds some spark as a worthy foil for Riggs, elevating the acting above average. Cinematography is serviceable blockbuster work — solid but unremarkable for the era. Novelty is low: this is a by-the-numbers sequel that leans heavily on established formula without meaningfully evolving the characters or style. The ending delivers the expected action catharsis but feels mechanically assembled rather than genuinely earned.
