The Quartile Take

Daredevil (2003) is a competent but largely forgettable early superhero outing. The plot hits generic beats — origin story, love interest, revenge arc — without much depth or coherence, and the script gives its cast little to work with. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner lack chemistry, and Colin Farrell's Bullseye is cartoonishly over-the-top. Visually, there are some interesting attempts to convey Matt Murdock's radar sense, which elevate the cinematography slightly above the norm for the era. However, the film feels derivative of better superhero films and offers little that is distinctive or singular. The ending resolves predictably without earning its emotional beats, leaving the film as a middling entry in the genre's early history.
