Quartile rating: 7/10 · 1 rating
In the wake of King Edward's death, Uhtred of Bebbanburg and his comrades adventure across a fractured kingdom in the hopes of uniting England at last.
A serviceable conclusion to The Last Kingdom series, Seven Kings Must Die wraps up Uhtred's saga with familiar beats — battles, political intrigue, and loyalty tested. The plot follows well-trodden historical epic territory and feels compressed into a feature-length format after the sprawling series, losing some narrative depth. Acting is solid, with Alexander Dreymon comfortable in the role but rarely pushed to new heights. Cinematography is competent with decent battle sequences but nothing visually distinctive. Novelty is low — this is essentially extended fan service for existing viewers, following the same formula as the show without reinvention. The ending provides closure that longtime fans will appreciate, though it feels somewhat rushed and telegraphed.
