The Quartile Take

Last Seen Alive is a fairly generic Gerard Butler action-thriller that hits familiar beats of a desperate husband going vigilante to rescue his missing wife. The plot is workmanlike and predictable, relying on well-worn genre tropes like meth labs, corrupt locals, and a man-on-the-run structure with little surprise. Butler delivers his usual gruff intensity but the character depth is thin, and the supporting cast is underwhelming. Cinematography is functional but unremarkable, offering little visual distinction beyond standard thriller aesthetics. The film brings essentially nothing new to the missing-person vigilante subgenre. The ending provides reasonable payoff and tension that slightly elevates the otherwise middling experience, making it a passable but forgettable streaming thriller.
