The Quartile Take

Wicked: For Good concludes the two-part adaptation of the beloved stage musical, delivering strong performances — particularly from Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande — that elevate the material. The plot follows the second act of the well-known show faithfully, which satisfies fans but offers little surprise for those familiar with the source material. Cinematography is competent and visually rich but leans heavily on the established visual language of the first film and the stage production. Novelty is limited as this is a direct continuation/conclusion of a sequel-prequel of an existing property, making it inherently derivative in conception despite strong execution. The ending, while emotionally resonant for fans of the story, is predetermined by the source material, limiting genuine dramatic tension.
