A year after a supermoon’s light activated a dormant gene, transforming humans into bloodthirsty werewolves and causing nearly a billion deaths, the nightmare resurfaces as the supermoon rises again. Two scientists attempt to stop the mutation but fail and must now struggle to reach one of their family homes.
Werewolves (2024) is a fairly generic creature-feature that leans on well-worn werewolf mythology without meaningfully reinventing it. The supermoon trigger concept offers a mild hook but the execution is formulaic — a road-trip survival structure with stock character dynamics and predictable beats. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with little depth given to the leads. Cinematography is competent genre work without memorable imagery or distinctive visual style. Novelty is low; the film recycles familiar werewolf apocalypse tropes seen in better entries like Dog Soldiers or Howl. The ending resolves without much payoff or emotional resonance, leaving little impression. Across the board, this is a below-average genre effort that doesn't distinguish itself in any particular dimension.
