The Quartile Take

Thursday is a mid-tier Pulp Fiction knockoff that rides the post-Tarantino crime-comedy wave with some genuine energy. The plot is a well-worn 'one bad day' structure that keeps momentum but doesn't transcend its influences. The acting has some standout moments, particularly from Aaron Eckhart and Thomas Jane, but the ensemble is uneven. Cinematography is functional and workmanlike — competent but unremarkable, lacking a distinctive visual identity. Novelty is modest; the film borrows heavily from Tarantino in tone and structure, but has enough wit and pacing to avoid being purely derivative. The ending fumbles the landing, feeling rushed and tonally inconsistent with the darkly comic buildup.
