A group of heroic warriors has only six days to save the planet in "Mortal Kombat Annihilation." To succeed they must survive the most spectacular series of challenges any human, or god, has ever encountered as they battle an evil warlord bent on taking control of Earth.
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is widely regarded as a poor sequel that squanders whatever charm the original had. The plot is barely coherent — a rushed, convoluted mess of dimension-hopping and underdeveloped character arcs that fails to build on its predecessor. Acting is genuinely poor across the board, with stilted dialogue delivery and unconvincing performances even by action-movie standards (notably replacing key cast members to diminishing effect). Cinematography is serviceable but unremarkable — some fight choreography has energy but the visual effects are notoriously dated and cheap-looking even for its era. Novelty is low; it's a by-the-numbers video game sequel recycling the same premise with more characters thrown in haphazardly. The ending is anticlimactic and unsatisfying, resolving its stakes with little payoff or emotional resonance.
