The Quartile Take

Thunderbolts* earns its strongest marks in Acting — the ensemble cast, particularly Florence Pugh and Lewis Pullman, brings genuine emotional weight to characters who could easily feel disposable. The film's handling of mental health themes and survivor's guilt gives it a slightly more introspective edge than typical MCU fare, though it doesn't fully escape franchise formula. The plot is functional and engaging but follows a fairly predictable ragtag-team assembly arc. Cinematography is competent MCU standard — solid but unremarkable. Novelty is moderate: the tone skews more grounded and character-driven than most MCU entries, which is refreshing, but the structure and beats are familiar enough to keep it from feeling truly singular. The ending resolves satisfyingly for the character arcs without being especially surprising.
