When two weddings are accidentally booked on the same day at the same venue, each bridal party is challenged with preserving their family's special moment while making the most of the unanticipated tight quarters. In a hilarious battle of determination and grit, the father of the bride and sister of the other bride chaotically go head-to-head as they stop at nothing to uphold an unforgettable celebration for their loved ones.
You're Cordially Invited is a broad, formulaic comedy of errors built on a well-worn double-booking premise with little that distinguishes it from countless wedding comedies before it. The plot relies on escalating physical gags and predictable conflict resolution rather than any fresh comedic construction. Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon bring professional comedic presence that elevates the material somewhat, but the script doesn't give them much to work with beyond their natural charm. Cinematography is functional TV-movie level work suited to a streaming production — nothing visually inventive. Novelty is low given the recycled setup and by-the-numbers execution. The ending is predictable, wrapping up neatly in the expected feel-good fashion without any genuine surprises. The film lands around its modest reputation as light, undemanding entertainment that doesn't overstay its welcome but doesn't aspire to much either.
