Asterix crosses the channel to help second-cousin Anticlimax face down Julius Caesar and invading Romans.
A formulaic entry in the live-action Asterix franchise that transplants the familiar Gaul-versus-Romans setup to Britain with little fresh invention. The plot follows the expected beats of the comic adaptation with few surprises, and the comedy lands unevenly. Production design and costumes are reasonably polished but the cinematography is workmanlike rather than distinctive. Acting is broad and pantomime-like, fitting the material but rarely elevating it. The ending wraps things up predictably with no real emotional payoff. Overall a passable but largely forgettable family comedy that adds little to the series.
