Stacy and Lydia are BFFs who've always dreamed about having epic bat mitzvahs. But things start to go comically awry when a popular boy and middle school drama threatens their friendship and their rite of passage.
A charming Netflix coming-of-age comedy with genuine heart, boosted by the Sandler family's natural chemistry. The plot hits familiar best-friendship-tested-by-a-boy beats without much surprise, and the cinematography is functional Netflix house style with little visual distinction. The bat mitzvah backdrop gives it some cultural specificity that lifts it above pure formula, but it remains largely conventional teen drama territory. Acting is warm and likable across the board, and the ending resolves things satisfyingly if predictably.
