Addio fottuti musi verdi (2017)

Quartile rating: 5.5/10 · 1 rating

Young Ciro Priello, an ultra-skilled Neapolitan graphic, can not find a job that satisfies and appreciates him. After sending the curriculum practically everywhere, he just have to send a copy in space. He will thus be able to work for an alien society based on competence and meritocracy.

The Quartile Take

A quirky Italian sci-fi comedy with a culturally specific premise — a Neapolitan struggling to find work who ends up employed by aliens — gives it a certain local charm and a mildly fresh comedic angle. However, the plot is thin and underdeveloped, relying heavily on broad comic setups without much narrative depth. Acting is serviceable with Ciro Priello (of Jackal fame) carrying energy, but the supporting cast is uneven. Cinematography is functional at best, typical of low-budget Italian comedy productions. The novelty is modest — the alien-meritocracy satire is a decent hook but not fully exploited. The ending fails to deliver a satisfying payoff, feeling rushed and anticlimactic for the story it set up.
