Quartile rating: 5.5/10 · 1 rating

Marion and Ben, thirty years old, meet on Tinder. That's about all they have in common; but the opposites attract each other, and they decide in the early morning of their meeting to go on vacation together despite the advice of their entourage. They will finally leave - to Bulgaria, halfway to their dream destinations: Beirut for Marion, Biarritz for Ben. Without a precise plan and, as they will soon discover, with very different conceptions of what a dream holiday should be.

The Quartile Take

Our Happy Holiday is a fairly by-the-numbers French romantic comedy built on the familiar opposites-attract premise, transplanted to an unconventional destination (Bulgaria) that provides mild novelty but doesn't elevate the formulaic structure. The plot follows predictable beats of mismatched couple bickering and bonding, with little surprise or depth. Acting appears competent but unremarkable for the genre. Cinematography is functional rather than inspired — Bulgaria offers some visual interest but the film doesn't exploit its setting cinematically. The ending likely resolves in expected romantic-comedy fashion without subverting expectations. The Tinder-era framing is a minor contemporary touch but not enough to distinguish the film meaningfully from its genre predecessors.
