Ip Man reluctantly begins a series of challenges from rival kung fu schools and is soon drawn into the dark and dangerous world of the Triads.
A late-career Ip Man biopic that covers familiar biographical ground without much distinction. The plot retreads well-worn territory from other Ip Man films, offering little new narrative insight. Anthony Wong brings dignified gravitas to the lead role, elevating the material above its modest script. Cinematography is competent but unremarkable for the genre. As yet another entry in the crowded Ip Man cycle, it offers minimal novelty and feels formulaic. The ending is underwhelming, closing the story without significant emotional payoff.
